Kathleen Connolly - NEW WINDSOR — State police charged a father Wednesday with murder after they discovered his former girlfriend's body behind a home on Riley Road. The suspect, Timothy Handel, 39, and Kathleen Connolly, 27, had lived together with their two young daughters in Lancaster, Pa., until Connolly disappeared on July 7. No one reported her missing until July 21. Handel was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge and sent to Orange County Jail. An Orange County grand jury will begin hearing the case Tuesday. Handel, who grew up in New Windsor, recently returned with the girls to live in the basement of a home belonging to Bonnie Glazier, an old acquaintance. Authorities in Pennsylvania credited Glazier with giving police their first big break in the case. She called them when she became suspicious after returning home from vacation to find the backyard dug up. Her unease led her to search the Internet where she discovered stories about Connolly's disappearance. Glazier also knew Connolly, who had lived in the Town of Newburgh and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy. "She was always pleasant and nice and a good mother," said Glazier of the dead woman. Her children are safe and in good hands, Glazier said.

  •     Simmons, Thomas Louis Cotter Sr., went to receive his heavenly reward on Sunday, June 26, 2011. Tommy, as he was often referred to by his loving family and friends, was born May 29, 1983 (22 minutes after his twin brother, Joseph), a son of Joseph Cotten III and Betty Lewis.Tommy received his education through the Newburgh Enlarge School District and started working at the age of thirteen to help support his family. Tommy's life centered around family and helping others. He believed in continuing education and often pushed others around him to do the same. One of his proudest moments was the birth of his son, Thomas Louis Cotten Jr. on April 23, 2008. Tommy loved to be in the background. However on February 14, 1996 he hit front page of the Black Press receiving the American Youth's Award. (He hated the photo.) His next proud moment was when he incorporated Precise Vision Auto, his auto mechanic shop. He beamed with great pride and joy for working at Ryder Trucking Company in Montgomery, where he was a machinist with Local 447. He would say "I can finally use my skills and my diesel license." The day he brought his motorcycle, we all could see such happiness on Saturday, June 25, 2011, he received his motorcycle club jacket and was accepted into Street Assault Motorcycle Club, he now felt complete. Tommy found a brotherhood, where he knew he would belong forever. He leaves to cherish his memory son, Thomas Cotten II; parents, Betty Lewis and Joseph Cotten III; siblings, Curtis Bullock and wife, Catherine, Joseph Cotten IV, Carradel Cotten-Walker and husband, Norris, Jonnathan Cotten and wife, Diarra, Jamarco Campbell and wife, Fatima, Ashley Warren, Jessica Herring, Sha'Carra Cotten, Andre Cotten, and Earl Cotten.
