Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 52 <Grammypgh@aol.com> on 04/Oct/2015 Message: Catherine Irene Alton Garcia, "Kitty", Class of 1934, age 94, joyfully joined her husband in heaven on November 3, 2009. Catherine, daughter of Grace Edna Titus and Howard Lerb Alton of Newburgh/Little Britain, was born at the Hermitage in Newburgh on March 2, 1915. She was the wife for 65 years of the late Raymond Joseph Garcia, who passed away on July 3, 2009. "Kitty", as she loved to be called, graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1934, where she was known as the "leading lady" for her singing in musical comedies. Kitty loved to sing and dance. She also became a beautician and owned and operated a beauty salon, Kitty's Korner in Newburgh in 1967. Kitty lived most of her life in Plattekill, until 1985, when she and Ray retired to Daytona Beach, FL. In 1999, they relocated to Atlanta, GA to be closer to family. She leaves to love and cherish her memory three children: Ray of Lubbock, TX, Donna of Atlanta, GA, Greg of Highland, and seven grandchildren. Kitty will be remembered by her family and friends for her singing, love of her children, grandchildren, and her dogs, Benji and BoG, and her incredible zest for life even at age 94. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. A joint service for both Ray and Kitty will be held on Saturday, February 6, at 10 a.m. at Saint Charles Church in Gardiner.
