     Doris Hardick Nelson of Newburgh, NY entered into rest on Friday, September 6, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was 96. The daughter of the late Emerson and Mae Hardick, she was born in Newburgh on September 23, 1916 in the era of the Greatest Generation. Doris was a loving wife, a proud and wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a 50 year resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson and a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. She was a Trust Officer of the former Columbus Trust Co. for 20 years. As a member of the Cornwall Presbyterian Church, Doris was their first woman elder and, along with her husband, was a member of the Church's Bell Choir. She loved golf and was an active member of the Storm King Golf Club. Doris was a musician's wife and she loved all music, especially her husband Ray's. She woke up each day singing. She was a beautiful lady and was loved by everyone who knew her. Survivors include her beloved daughters: Joyce Kuhar, who with her husband, Charles cared for Doris the last years of her long life; and Janet (John) Harrington of Accord, NY; her two adored granddaughters, Amy (Tim) Reynolds of Cornwall and Laura (Scott) Greene of Carpinteria, CA; and two cherished great-grandchildren, Jack and Lily Reynolds. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Raymond Nelson, and both of her cherished sons, Raymond and Richard Nelson. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10th at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Ave. A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Interment will be private in Woodlawn Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 14th at the Cornwall Presbyterian Church, 222 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Co. whose staff cared for Doris with the utmost kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris' memory may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550 or to the Cornwall Presbyterian Church, 222 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520.
