Edison Robert Mauldin, III   Class of 1992

     An incredible man with a heart of gold that exuded generosity, joy, and charm, Edison Robert Mauldin, III died October 22, 2013, he was a blessing to all that he encountered. At 30 years old, Edison left us far too soon. And yet, his life here on Earth has left a remarkable impression on everyone he touched. Born in Newburgh, NY on September 22, 1974, Edison was the only son of his parents, Edison and Josephine Mauldin. Edison graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1992. He briefly attended Orange County Community College, however his true passion lied in music and helping the developmentally disabled. He had been employed at AHRC, and his most recent position was with Occupations, Inc. K-oss was more than just a D.J. He was an entrepreneur, producer, and enjoyed all facets of the music industry. His love of music was definitely a gift he shared with his father. The music in this family will keep playing on in remembrance of these men. Edison was affectionately known as, Boo, Boozie, Brother Booze, Boy, Chocolate Face, Pimpin, Spraydown, DJ K-oss, K-oss, Heddy, and Teddy. He is survived by his mother, Josephine Mauldin; two sisters: Alicia Mauldin Ware (Duane), Chaniqua "Kay" Mauldin (Tige); nephew, Charles Jackson; nieces: DaMonica Jackson, Diera Ware, Tige Collins; uncles: Joseph Collins (Edna), William Coston, Rodney Folk; aunts: Sarah Davis, Harriet Keith (Charles), Gwendolyn Hill, Angela Mauldin, Jhaki Mauldin, Alyce Mauldin; a host of cousins; Godson, Lennox Majuire and there are too many to name individually, however Edison leaves to cherish his memory a host of adopted brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his father, Edison Robert Mauldin, Jr. (Punkin); grandmother: Luvenia Mauldin, and uncle, Archie Mauldin. The family would like to extended a special thank you to Dr. Douglas Fletcher, the ER and I.C.U. staff at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. Edison will lay in repose from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 28th at Cross Roads Assembly of God Church, 7 D'Alfonse Road, Newburgh. Calling hour is from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 29th, with Services to begin 11 a.m. at the church; Pastor Manuel Montalvo is officiating. Interment is at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middle Hope, NY. Professional services entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Homes, 259 Walsh Avenue, New Windsor, NY 12553
