   David Lewis of the Town of Newburgh, NY, a Developmental Aide with New York State and 26 year resident of the area, died on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was 27 years old. The son of Derrick Lewis and the late Nancy Martinez, David was born September 19, 1986 in Brooklyn, NY. The family relocated from Brooklyn to the Town of Newburgh and David attended Horizon-on-the-Hudson magnet elementary school, North Junior High School, Newburgh Free Academy, Orange County Community College, and completed his Junior year at SUNY New Paltz. He enjoyed helping people, playing the bass and electric guitars, as well as, creating works of art. David was a member of the Mid-Hudson Christian Church of Wallkill, NY. Survivors include two sisters: Danielle Sykes and Rachel Lewis; his father, Derrick Lewis; his stepmother, Rosario Lewis; two step-sisters: Joanna Walmsley and Miranda Ray; two uncles: Glenn martin and Jose Martinez; three aunts: Ingrid Lewis-Martin, Maxine Vergara, and Carmen Meyers; three brothers-in-law: Josh Sykes, Richardo Ray, and Graham Walmsley; and many cousins. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 21st and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 23rd, at Rhodes Funeral Homes, 259 Walsh Ave., New Windsor, NY. Services will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, March 24th at Mid-Hudson Christian Church, 2393 Rte. 300, Wallkill, NY; Reverend Steve Aldrich is officiating. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middle Hope, NY.
