Carol Virginia Munson - Class of 1946

   Carol Virginia Munson, of Newburgh, entered into eternal rest on June 10, 2014 at Campbell Hall Nursing Home in Campbell, NY. She was 84 years old. The daughter of the late Walter and Hazel Munson, Carol was born July 19, 1929 in Newburgh, NY. Carol graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1946. She went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education at Ithaca College and a Master's Degree at Syracuse University. Carol taught music for 34 years. The last 19 years of her career were in the Arlington School District. Carol's greatest gift was her friendship, especially her lifelong bond with Ellen Waldo of Carmel, NY and childhood friend Dolores Seymour of Newburgh, NY. Both of whom predeceased her. Carol leaves behind her family: Jeff Waldo of Carmel, NY, Eurice and Anthony Stokes and family of Hillcrest, NY, Mary Ann and Robert Jagger of Gardiner, NY, Jennifer, Steven and Griffin Gillespie of Newburgh, NY. Carol will always be remembered for her love of music, camping, travel, Babe Ruth and the Yankees, and her many cherished pets - Red, Buttons, and Honey. Carol's life was filled with music, laughter and adventure, she will be deeply missed. The family wishes to thank St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, especially the 3 North Staff for all their care and kindness, and the Campbell Hall Nursing Home for their support and compassion during Carol's last days. Visitation will be held from 11am - 12pm on Wednesday, June 18 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.
