Anthony "Tony" John Coonan, of Newburgh, a lifetime resident of the area,
entered into rest on June 14, 2014. He was 48. The son of the late Coach Jack
Coonan and Patty (Clavio) Coonan, he was born March 18, 1966 in Newburgh. Tony
attended Sacred Heart School, was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, and was
employed as a Pharmacy Technician for CVS. "If tears could build a stairway and
memories a lane, I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again". He
is survived by his loving family: his sister, Marcelene "Marci" Vanduzer and her
husband, Dennis; Uncle Tom Coonan, Uncle Vincent Clavio, Aunt Theresa Clavio,
niece and nephew, Kristi and Cody Vanduzer; several very close cousins, and
goddaughter, Nicole VanAmburgh. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Frank
and Margaret Coonan and Anthony and Marcelene Clavio. Visitation will be held
from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave.,
Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20
in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, New
Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the family.
