Harriette Robinson Cochran - Class of June 1929

     Harriette Robinson Cochran, 101, of Chardon, Ohio, died at The Residence of Chardon (June 1, 2014). Mrs. Cochran was born Nov. 10, 1912, in Newburgh, N.Y., to William James and Mary Graham Robinson. She was one of eight children and was the last surviving. She previously lived in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Englewood, Fla., and Wellsville, N.Y. Mrs. Cochran graduated from Newburgh Free Academy, Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa., and did graduate work at SUNY Albany. She married Charles E. "Pat" Cochran on July 1, 1939. Pat died in August 1994. Harriette taught school for many years eventually teaching at almost every grade level and in every subject. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a member of St. John Church, Wellsville, St. David Church, Englewood, St. Martin Church, Chagrin Falls and St. Luke Church, Chardon. She was an active volunteer in Girl Scouts, PTA, AAUW, League of Women Voters, her church and many other activities. She is survived by her three children, John of Wilbraham, Mass., Nan (Richard) Norton of Chardon, and Mary Viancourt of Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren, Amy, Jonathan, Eric, David, and Phillip; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke Episcopal Church, Chardon, on Aug. 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville, N.Y., on Aug. 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to any local library since Harriette loved to read or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, OH 44060 or to any scholarship fund to help young people further their education.
