Jeremy Wilson Greene "Jerry" - Class of 1968

Jeremy Wilson Greene "Jerry", 63, of Montgomery, NY, died on June 23, 2014. Jerry, son of Francis "Burt" and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Green and brother of Sally Douglass, passed away at his home on Monday. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; two sons: Ryan and Tracey; daughter, Dr. Mary Elizabeth Greene; granddaughter, Eleanor; two nephews: John and Tom Douglass and niece, Donna Watson. Jerry was a decorated veteran while serving as a gunner on AC-119 in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He flew on over 150 combat missions from 1969 to 1973. While serving his country, Jerry was awarded the Air Medal multiple times as well as the Distinguished Flying Cross (the oldest American military aviation award) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial combat. He was a former President of the Orange County chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America as well as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Distinguished Flying Cross Society. A big proponent of education, Jerry earned an Associate's degree from Orange County Community College and a Bachelor's degree from Mount St. Mary's College. He enjoyed playing guitar, cowboy themed movies and television shows, and was a New York Jets season ticket holder. Rex Ryan has been quoted for stating that Jerry was "The best unrecruited prospect the Jets organization has seen since inception. We missed the boat on Jerry." Neither Mike Tannenbaum nor John Idzik would speak on this recruitment slight when pressed for comment. Jerry was also a member of the Walden Sportsman's Club and the Humane Society of the United States. As such, the family requests that contributions may be made to the Walden Humane Society in his honor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Please contact the family at (929) 224-0020 for details on Jerry's celebration of life gathering planned for Friday. Funeral arrangements are by the Gridley-Horn Funeral Home, Inc., 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY www.gridleyhoran.com
