Marie S. Barel Alisandrella, a lifelong Newburgh resident, entered into eternal rest on July 21, 2014 at Elant at Meadow Hill in Newburgh. She was 82 years old. The daughter of the late Giacomo and Josephine (Maniscalco) Barel, Marie was born on December 1, 1931 in Newburgh, NY. She was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. She married Nicholas Alisandrella in 1954 in Newburgh. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish. Marie was retired from West Point where she worked as a cashier. A loving sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be missed. A special thank you to everyone at Elant at Meadow Hill for their loving and compassionate care of Marie. Marie is survived by her son James J. Alisandrella and his wife Ann of Wallkill,NY: her sisters: Antonette Chumas of Montgomery, NY and Jeanne Giammarco of Marlboro, NY; her grandchildren: Jason (Sara) and Shane (Venessia); her great-grandchildren: Gianna, Adrianna, and Tristan; her special nieces and nephews: Kathy, Nicky, and Ronnie; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marie was predeceased by her son Ricky. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Friday, July 25 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral service will be held during visitation. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marie’s name to Elant at Meadow Hill, 172 Meadow Hill Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.
