Jeanne Johnston Brown - Class of 1945

Jeanne Johnston Brown, after serving her Lord and Savior for 87 years has entered into heaven and is singing with the angels, making a joyful noise. Born on June 6, 1927 in San Diego, California to Hilda and Robert Johnston, her family moved back to Newburgh NY to raise their children. Her parents sacrificed much to afford her private voice lessons and then to insure her admission to Crane Department of Music at Potsdam, NY to receive a degree in Musical Education. She was classically trained as a soprano in New York City. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald, who was a fine pianist and her accompanist and shared her love of music. She was blessed with six covenant children. For many years she was a devoted organist and choir director for several churches. She also gave of her talent to the Music Department K+ through 6th grade in the Newburgh, NY school district for more than 20 years. She'll be missed by her many beloved Christian friends in CBS, Hilton Head PCA, and her bible studies. She is remembered with love and honor by her only brother Robert C Johnston (Ellen, deceased) and by her children Stephen (Christine), Beth Boryk (James, deceased), Bob (Jean, deceased), Daniel, and Barry (Lindy). She was predeceased by youngest son Christopher. Along with 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, we all ask you to remember her by this scripture in Proverbs 31:25-26. "She is a woman of strength and dignity..... When she speaks, her words are wise and kindness is the rule for everything she says...." Thank you God for our time with Mom A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held this Sunday August 24th at 4:00pm at The Hilton Head PCA Church.
