Thomas M. Detoro - Class of 1972

  Thomas M. Detoro, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away with his wife at his bedside, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at their home in Newburgh, NY. He was 60 years old. Son of the late Cosmo and Della White Detoro, he was born in Newburgh, NY on March 23, 1954. Thomas was a Medical Technician and retired after 39 years with St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall, NY. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church of Monroe, NY. Tommy enjoyed every day, but was a huge fan of Halloween. Not only did it become a Detoro tradition to celebrate it to the fullest, it was celebrated in High Holy Holiday fashion. Tommy will be terribly missed by family and friends. For Tom & Patricia, who have special meaning for gerbil kisses.Love you Infinity and Beyond. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Patricia Cleary Detoro at home; his sisters: Shirley Badner and her husband Bill of Marlboro, NY; Linda Verfurth and her husband Rod of Beacon, NY, Gracie Herbert and her husband Lenny of Orange Park, FL; his mother-in-law Patricia Cleary of Monroe, NY; his sister-in-laws: Mary Cleary & Vipul Doshi of Fairfax, VA and Coleen Cleary of Monroe, NY; several nieces and nephews; and Tinker the family cat. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1st at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 2nd at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe, NY. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
