Edward Rightmeyer - Class of 1951

     Edward F. Rightmeyer of the Town of Newburgh entered into rest on October 26, 2014 at Westchester Medical Center. He was 80 years old. He was the son of Frank and Ethel Johnston Rightmeyer. He was born on January 20, 1934. Ed worked as a Tech Specialist at Texaco for 39 years. Ed was an avid fly fisherman who loved to tie his own flies. He loved to play the piano and entertain. He loved all sports but was especially fond of NASCAR and basketball. He graduated from NFA in 1951 where he was a star member of the basketball team who won the DUSO championship. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War as an instructor in Fort Lee, Virginia. He was a life member of the Cronomer Valley Fire Department and served as President and Fire Commissioner. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Shirley Gasking Rightmeyer; his loving children: Edward P. Rightmeyer and his wife, Heidi of New Windsor, Betsy Flanigan and her husband, Bren of Carthage, MO and Tim Ingram and his wife, Tricia of the Town of Newburgh; grandchildren: Kyle and Travis Ingram, Allie and Shane Rightmeyer, Devin and Kelly Flanigan, Lindsey Lattimore and Danielle Sullivan; great-granddaughter, Peyton Ingram; sister-in-law, Agnes Koerber; brother-in-law, Russell Gasking Jr.; nephew, Glenn Koerber and other nieces and nephews; cousin, Marion Ball and family. He is also survived by his son, Francis and daughter, Carolyn. He was predeceased by brother-in-law, Teddy Koerber and cousins: Kathleen Hale, Jean Roe, Shirley Doyle, and Marilyn Barnum. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 31st at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, 239 Quassaick Ave, New Windsor, NY 12553. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on November 1st at the funeral home, with Father John Vondras and Reverend Jeffrey Hooker officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis Food Pantry, Benkard Avenue, Newburgh or to Grace Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 468 Broadway, Newburgh.
