Jean Carpenter Reid - Class of June 1942

        Jean Carpenter Reid died today, October 30th, 2014 at 4:00am in Newfane, New York at Newfane nursing home, 11 miles from where she lived in Wilson, NY. She was 90. Born in Newburgh, April 24, 1924 to Moffatt Roe Carpenter and Elizabeth Earl Carpenter. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Reid. She is survived by her son, Ronald J. Reid, and daughter Barbara Jean Reid, as well as grandchildren RJ Reid and family, and Michael Reid and family. Also survived by her sister, Ruth Carpenter Fraas (93), who resides in New Windsor, NY. In addition Jean is survived by two grandsons, RJ and Michael Reid, neice, Elizabeth Whalen of Newburgh, and nephew Steven Fraas of Flagler Beach, Fl. Jean had be ill for a very long time with dementia, strokes, and congestive heart failure. During the last two years, she has been in a nursing facility in Newline, NY. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Jean (Carpenter) Reid, October 30, 2014 in Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Facility. Born on April 19, 1924 in Newburgh, NY. She was a daughter of the late M. Roe and Elizabeth (Earl) Carpenter. A graduate of Newburgh High School Jean attended Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital Nursing School in New York City after which she had a couple of nursing positions then worked at Brothers of Mercy in Clarence. She and her husband moved to Wilson in the early 1980's. Jean was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where Jean was involved in many church functions. A member of Delphic Circle she enjoyed bird watching and the Buffalo Bills along with spending time with family and the group of girls she went out with. Surviving is a son, Ronald J. (Patricia) Reid III of Wilson; a daughter, Barbara Reid of Wilson; grandsons, Ronald J. Reid IV of Rochester, Michael (Sara) Reid of Rochester; great-grandson, Daniel of Rochester; a sister, Ruth Fraas of Newburgh, NY; a niece, Elizabeth (George) Whalen; and a nephew, Steven (Lynne) Fraas. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald James Reid, Jr. on February 1, 1982. Visitation will be on Friday from 3-5 PM in the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM in St. John's Episcopal Church, Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
