James Richard Slack - Class of 1972

        James Richard Slack, 60, of Cary North Carolina went home to the Lord on Sunday, November 9, 2014. He passed away peacefully at his home. Jim was born in Newburgh, NY on April 6, 1954 to James and Barbara Slack. He was preceded in death by both parents. Jim is survived by the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Laura; their two children, Christopher (and wife, Cami) Slack and daughter Erin (and husband, David) Pugh; six grandchildren who were the absolute joy in his life, Camdyn, Maddox, Kya, Kinsley, and Titus Slack and Ayla Pugh. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert and Richard Slack; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Jim was a devoted employee of IBM for 33 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. To know him was to love him and he never met a stranger. He found great joy in even the small details of life and that joy was contagious to all around him. He loved the outdoors, sailing, family vacations at the beach and golfing. His fun loving spirit will be missed by so many. A funeral mass celebrating Jim will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary NC.
