Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 <Grammypgh@aol.com> on 02/Dec/2014 Message: Valerie Jane Gee Buckley passed away peacefully on November 26, 2014. She was 84 years old. The daughter of Watson T. Gee & Mina “Steele” Gee, she was born in Newburgh, NY on June 3, 1930. She married Henry C. Buckley on October 24, 1954. She is survived by her children, Michelle Leonard of Clearwater FL, Melinda Sammis of Bonita Springs FL, Mark & Patti Buckley of Wurtsboro, NY. Her grandchildren, Brian & Tara Leonard, Caitlin & Kyra Sammis, & Fawn Buckley. Many nieces, nephews & cousins. She will also be missed by Arthur Leonard who always proclaimed Valerie as his favorite mother-in-law and will remember her with great love and admiration. Also, survived by the many friends and relatives she had who will always cherish her in their hearts. To know Valerie was to love her. She was a shining star in the lives of those who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was the best and will be missed greatly by all. She is in heaven now, with Henry, her Mother, Father & Brother Bob & all her friends and relatives who have passed before her. They were waiting with open arms for her to begin a new life. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and went on to Bryant College in RI. She worked as a book keeper for McCoy’s Sport Shop for many years. Valerie spent much of her childhood at Orange Lake, where her Grandmother lived. Learning to swim, canoe and later following in her father's footsteps, to speed skate where she excelled and won many medals & awards. She & her husband Henry instilled the love of outdoor sports in their children at a very young age, & also the grandchildren with frequent family trips including, hiking the scenic Hudson Valley, skiing in the Catskills, trips around the USA & Europe. She was predeceased by her father Watson T. Gee, mother Mina Gee, husband Henry C Buckley, & brother Robert B Gee. There will be a memorial service for Valerie on Sunday, June 7th, 2015 .
