Harriett L. Griggs Comfort - Class of June 1944

    Harriett L. Griggs Comfort of New Windsor, NY entered into rest Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Luke's Cornwall/Newburgh Campus. She was 88. The daughter of Cole and Mattie Jamison Griggs, Harriett was born August 12, 1926 in Middlehope, NY. Harriett spent many relaxing vacations with her husband, George at her beloved Glenn Lake where her brother, Nelson Griggs owned the Glenmoore Lodge and in later years Harriett and her niece, Cheryle continued the tradition. Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Gary Griggs and wife, Patricia, Cheryle Bayard and husband, Bruce, JoAnn Russo and husband, Anthony "Fuzzy", Donald Griggs and wife, Susan, Edward Griggs and wife, Iva, Susan Perea and husband, Dr. Jamie Perea; many grand nieces and nephews; as well as great grand nieces and nephews; cousin, Thomas L. Jamison and wife, Eileen of New Windsor, Polly and George Botzakis, Mary and Kelly Bruno, her longtime friends at ABC Pizza where she spent her afternoons for many years. In addition to her husband, George Comfort, Harriett was predeceased by her brothers: Nelson, Franklin, Lewis and John Griggs. A special thanks goes to Mary Knight (Administer) and the staff at the New Windsor Country Inn for the wonderful care given to Harriett. A Graveside service will take place 1 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Cold Spring Cemetery in Cold Spring, NY.
