  Michael A. DeCaterina of Newburgh, NY entered into eternal rest on December 20, 2014 at Elant at Meadow Hill in Newburgh. He was 86 years old. Michael was the son of the late Silvio and Rose (DeSantis) DeCaterina. Michael retired from the City of Newburgh Police Department after 20 years of service and from West Point. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marian (Zadroga) DeCaterina, at home; his loving children: Michele Schneider and companion Ennio Sartori, Michael F. DeCaterina and wife Cheryl; his grandchildren: Gwendolyn Schneider Basselini and husband Anthony and Michael R. DeCaterina; his great grandchildren: Giavanna, Alyssa, and Anthony; his brothers: Joseph DeCaterina and Frank DeCaterina; his sister: Mary Clifford. In addition to his parents Michael was predeceased by his siblings: Theresa Marchi, Margaret Weyant, Angela Rubino, Vincent DeCaterina and Silvio DeCaterina. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, December 22 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday December 23, with burial following in St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor.
