Anthony "Chick" Napolitano - Class of 1947

Anthony "Chick" Napolitano, of New Windsor, NY entered into eternal rest on
January 5, 2015 at home. He was 85 years old. The son of Ralph Napolitano and
Rose Rusucci Napolitano, Anthony "Chick" Napolitano was born on April 16, 1929
in Newburgh. Anthony "Chick" Napolitano graduated from NFA 1947 with an
Associate Degree from Utica Tech in Business Management. Anthony was a Certified
Athletic Equipment Manger, Athletic Dept., Newburgh Free Academy, Newburgh, NY.
Anthony "Chick" Napolitano honorably and proudly served his country as a member
of the U.S. Navy, 1952-55, serving in the U.S. Naval Communications at Port
Lyautey, French Morocco, where he earned a National Defense Service Medal and
Good Conduct Medal. He pitched for the All European Championship. When he
returned to Newburgh he enjoyed playing for Didey's, Peters Grill, Newburgh
Furniture Mart and many more. He was inducted into Newburgh Fast Pitch Hall of
Fame in 1993. Chick was the coach for Mount St. Mary's Girls Softball team for 7
seasons, finishing second in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament.
He worked in the Athletics Office at NFA from 1965-2010, obtaining his Equipment
Manager Certificate in 1991. Every student was important to him and he treated
them all as if they were one of his own. He was thrilled to be selected as a
Volunteer for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. In the early 1990's he volunteered
his time working with the Green Bay Packers for two weeks (Preseason). While
there he met Brett Favre. He was a life long Fan of the NY Yankee's and got to
meet Joe DiMaggio while working at Sears as a youth during Christmas. A family
statement reads: "Chick was one of a kind; the most generous, compassionate
person, a true friend. He was fun loving, always willing to help someone and
loved and respected by everyone. Words can't say how much he will be missed."
Anthony "Chick" Napolitano is survived by his loving companion of 32 years, Anne
Couturier; his daughter, Lori Napolitano of Newburgh; his son, Richard
Napolitano of Latham, NY; grandchildren, Ali, AJ, Nicole, Tyler, Danielle and
Dakota; great grandchildren, Talia, Dominick, Maxx and Gianna; brother in law,
Peter Petrillo; niece, Jody Scagnelli and husband, Dan; nephews, Zachary
Angelone, Peter Scagnelli; and niece, Emma Rose Scagnelli. He was predeceased by
his sister, Jean Petrillo. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday,
January 9, 2015 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St.,
Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on
Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the funeral home, Fr. William Scafidi will
officiate. Memorial Contributions in "Chick's" memory may be sent to NFA
