    Merton I. Tidd of Port Jervis, NY and lifetime resident of the area, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at St. Joseph's Place in Port Jervis, NY. He was 73. He was born November 29, 1941 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Merton E. Tidd and the late Hazel Bloomer Tidd. Merton proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a life member of the Tri-States Naval Ship, VFW Post No. 7241, Port Jervis, NY. He worked as a Superintendant for Newburgh Armory, Newburgh, NY. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Newburgh, NY where he served as Deacon and Trustee. A family statement read: "Mert was always full of life and enjoyed raising a glass with his friends." Surviving are his two sisters: Lavina Joan Tidd of Port Jervis, NY and Hazel Pagano of New Windsor, NY; also several nieces and nephews and his special niece, Jeanne Moran and her husband, Joseph. He was predeceased by five siblings: Milton and Wilton Tidd and Eleanor Dietz, Charlotte Bell, Thelma Bartholomew, Viola Meyers and Shirley Pedoski. Friends may call from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, January 19th at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 East Main Street Port Jervis. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will be at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial & Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral arrangements are by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., Port Jervis, NY, 845.845.5191
