Robert Sullivan, 51, of Newburgh NY, Philadelphia PA and Sevierville TN, passed away on January 23, 2015, after a 9 month battle with cerebral lymphoma. Sullivan is the loving son of Patricia and William (deceased 1992), and brother of Paul, Brian (deceased 1986), Timothy and Jeanne Mignola. Sullivan's adoring niece and nephews include Owen Mignola; Analiya, Liam and Brian Sullivan. Robert Sullivan was an outgoing, insanely personable and witty individual who shined a light on everyone he knew. Growing up in NY as Robbie, Sullivan played guitar in punk band US Distress in the mid 1980's. Sullivan moved to Philadelphia PA with gal pal Lisa Metzger in 1986 where he lived for the most part of 25 years. Well known as Robert in restaurant, nightclub and property management industries, Sullivan made countless friends who can tell tales of their antics together in Center City, Philadelphia. Sullivan moved to Sevierville TN in 2009 where he worked for the Hilton and Westgate travel and tourism businesses. Sullivan's exuberant, magnetic personality garnered an abundance of friends in many places throughout the years. Sullivan was a true music and reality television lover who loved movies, fitness, writing, laughing, and fawning over his niece and nephews, as well as many loving cousins, and as the ever loving Uncle Bebop to Declan and Zoe Zisser of Philadelphia. Friends and family are encouraged to remember, laugh, smile and share stories about this dear, wonderful man, whose life was cut far too short. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 27 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, January 28 in St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations sent in Robert Sullivan's honor to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (NY, NY) or the Matthew Shepard Foundation www.matthewshepard.org
