Jessie Henderson Lukacik passed away peacefully at Elant at Newburgh on January 28, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. While her body failed her and lost the fight, her spirit never wavered and will live on in Heaven. Jessie is at peace now, back with her love, Bill, and her best friend Marge. Jessie was born in Newburgh on April 5, 1923 to Hazel Hughes and Ralph Kelly Henderson. She was a graduate of NFA, and married William Lukacik in November 1946. They had two daughters, Susan Lukacik Kuhn (partner Michael Kochler) and Diane Lukacik Bossley (partner Angelo Navarra); four grandchildren, Robert C. Kuhn II and wife Carina and great-grandchildren Jesper and Alice of Sweden, Khari Kuhn Santiago and husband Jesus and great-granddaughter Gabrielle Elizabeth of Troy, NY, Kelly Elizabeth Kuhn and fiancé Walter Gardner II and great-granddaughter Rowan Alaina of Cornwall, and Corlyn Ann Bossley and fiancé Adam Kiss of New Windsor; her brother, Ralph K. Henderson Jr and wife Gloria of Florida; brother-in-law Harry Lukacik and wife Barbara of Newburgh; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Roland T. Henderson. Jessie spent many years volunteering at Hudson House and always offering her insight and support. She was a parishioner of Union Presbyterian Church and held many positions there. Jessie and Bill loved traveling and enjoying time with family and friends. We wish to thank the caring staff at Elant and her roommate and good friend Gloria. Memorial visitation will be held from 2-3 pm on Saturday, January 31 at Union Presbyterian Church in Newburgh, with a service at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Jessie.
