Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 <Grammypgh@aol.com> on 14/Feb/2015 Message: Rose DeRosa Coppola, of New Windsor, entered into rest on February 13, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Newburgh, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85. Daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (DeCerbo) DeRosa, she was born December 20, 1929 in Newburgh. She was married to the late Edgar "Edgie" Coppola, the love of her life, who predeceased her in 1981. Rose graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. She retired from West Point Military Academy as an Administrative Assistant at the age of 75. Rose loved spending time with her family, always putting everyone else's needs before her own. She was a hard working strong woman that overcame many obstacles. She was an avid shopper with a flair for fashion, and loved cooking for her family. She enjoyed bowling, dining out, and vacationing with her many friends. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her children, Chris Coppola of New Windsor, Dean Coppola and his wife Diane of Wallkill, and Leslie Gordon and her husband Rich of Newburgh; her brother, Pete DeRosa; grandchildren, Michael and Leah Coppola and Richard, Lindsey, Reagan and Liam Gordon; and nephews, Jeff and Marc Coppola and Michael, Peter and Paul DeRosa. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her in-laws, Marie and Julius Coppola. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Monday, February 16 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 17 at the funeral home, with Father Bill Scafidi officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
