John Vincent Allessandro, of the Town of Newburgh, a retired butcher and 50 year resident of the area, peacefully entered into rest on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at home with his adoring family by his side. He was 64. Son of the late Michael and Gertrude (Sorice) Allessandro, he was born July 31, 1950 in Queens, NY. He married his loving wife Patricia on May 20, 1973. Patricia survives at home. John was a beloved and dedicated family man and a great friend to many. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed coaching baseball and watching the New York Rangers. He was an avid bass fisherman and proud long-time member of the Orange Lake Fish & Game Association. His most precious moments were shared with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include his wife, Patricia, at home; his daughter, Michele Walsh and her husband Adam, and his son, Michael Allessandro and his wife Alyssa, all of the Town of Newburgh; his sister, Felice Gambino and her husband Robert of New Windsor; grandchildren, Maya and Gianna Allessandro and AJ Walsh; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, January 29 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 30 at Brooks Funeral Home, with Father William Scafidi officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. Memorial donations in honor of John may be sent to American Brain Tumor Assn., 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Ste 550, Chicago, IL 60631, or online at www.abta.org
