Patterson Sr. of the Town of Newburgh, a retired longtime employee for his family's business Highland Ice Cream Co. entered into rest, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital/Newburgh Campus. He was 91. The son of the late Benjamin and Jennie McNeil Patterson, Warren was born May 27, 1923 in Newburgh. He was married to his beloved wife of 69 years, Leota Trisler Patterson who predeceased him September 11, 2014. Warren proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII on the USS New Orleans. He was life time member and past commander for American Legion Judson P. Galloway Post 152. Warren volunteered for Newburgh Nuclears Baseball American Legion Club and Castle Point VA Hospital. Survivors include his son, Warren Patterson and wife, Cathy of New Paltz, daughter, Cheryl Patterson of the Town of Newburgh, brother-in-law, Uzell "Smitty" Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, and his wife, he was predeceased by his siblings; Benjamin Patterson Jr., H. Robert Patterson Sr. and Mildred E. Smith. In the fall of 2013 Warren and his brother-in-law Smitty, accompanied by their sons Warren Jr. and Gary Smith, were fortunate to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington, DC. Warren and Smitty said " It was one of the best days of our lives" and all agreed that it was a wonderful tribute to the Veterans of WWII. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Cemetery. A private service for Warren and Leota will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9W North, Newburgh. Memorial donations in Warren's memory may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
