William Byers Cleary (Bill), an Orlando resident for the past 20 years, began his new journey on Saturday, March 14, 2015. He was born to the late Col. William J. and Bernice Foster Cleary at Keller Army Community Hospital in West Point, NY, on Oct. 7, 1943. Bill grew up in Newburgh, NY, attended local schools and graduated from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., and Mercer University in Atlanta with honors; he was a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his daughter, Ninon, husband Steve O'Neill and cherished grandchildren Connor and Rosemary of Gardiner, NY; his sister, Janelle Cleary of Newburgh, his niece, Heather, husband Rocco Carriero and adored great-niece and nephew Ella and Luca of Remsenburg, NY; his brother, Kevin, wife Aubree Cleary and beloved niece Kaitlyn of Belle Isle, Fla. Bill also leaves behind his constant four-legged-companion, Joey. In his own words, "So farewell my dear loving friends, I'll miss you so very much and carry you with me on my journey. Thank God for my family. I was a decent man, I'll not be maudlin here, but anyone I've ever loved or cared for, know I love you as well." Services will be private at the request of the family. If you would like, a donation can be made in his name to a local animal shelter, the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research or Vitas In-Patient Unit at Manor Care in Winter Park, Fla.
