Louis A. Mele - Class of 1951

    Louis A. Mele of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2015 at Castle Point Veteran Hospital in Castle Point, NY. He was 81 years old. The son of Antonio Mele and Nicolena Bartolini Mele, Louis was born on May 15, 1933 in Newburgh NY. Louis was a Sales Representative for R.W. Henry in Newburgh, NY. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh and a member of American Legion Post 353, Cornwall, NY. A family statement reads: "The family would like to express sincere thanks to the Staff of Castle Point Veterans Administration Hospital for their care provided over the last several months of his life." Louis is survived by his wife, Hazel Kathryn Post Mele at home; a son, Bill of Fishkill, NY; sisters: Anna Mele Denton and Genevieve Mele Berardinelli; grandchildren: Andrew and Bill; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Mele. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8th at the funeral home. Burial will follow the Service at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY. Contributions: American Legion Post 353, POB 353, Cornwall, NY 12518. Arrangements are by Kevin Quigley of Quigley Bros.
