Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 <Grammypgh@aol.com> on 08/Apr/2015 Message: William Robert Caulfield 90 years, passed away on March 26, 2015 at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa.Born in Newburgh, NY on July 3, 1924, son of William John and Edna Caulfield. William was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and was married to Jeanne Marie Messing of Newburgh, NY, his high school sweetheart for over 67 years. Jeanne passed away on Oct. 18, 2011. During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on a destroyer escort and was recalled to serve again in the Korean War. Upon returning from service, he worked until retirement for New York Telephone Company and then Verizon working in the mid-Hudson, NY area and transferring to the Capital District area of Northern New York State. William enjoyed his home and friends in Clifton Park, NY and Sun City Center. He volunteered his service for years to Schenendehowa Methodist Church and the Captain's Program for Children in Clifton Park, NY. He enjoyed telling his life stories of his joy of sailing on the Hudson River, Lake Champlain, and Long Island Sound. He was a member of Mayfield Yacht Club and Poughkeepsie Yacht Club in New York State. He is survived by his two daughters, Tamara Caulfield of Schenectady, NY and Billie Dawn Sarber of Oakdale, CT; son-in-law, Harry Sarber; two grandchildren, Stacey Sarber of Arlington, MA and Rachel Sarber of Phoenix, AZ; and companion Betty Corzine of Sun City Center. Betty Corzine and the Caulfield family invites you to celebrate a life well lived. A prayer service will be held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 701 Valley Forge Blvd., Sun City Center, on a date to be announced. A military ceremony and burial will be planned at Solomon Saratoga National Cemetary near Saratoga, NY battleground on June 10, 2015.
