Donald Jennings Curtis passed away Saturday evening, April 4th, at the Longmont United Hospital, Longmont CO, surrounded by all three children and his granddaughter Kailynn. Born in Newburgh, New York, in 1927, Don grew up, married his wonderful wife Shirley, and raised their three children - Nancy, David and Linda in the Newburgh area. The son of Anna (McKinney) and Allen Curtis, Don graduated from Newburgh Free Academy, enlisted in the army, and was stationed at West Point. Don worked for Central Hudson Electric Company for 30 years. Following his retirement, Don and Shirley spent their winters at the Good Life Recreational Village in Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed golf, cards, reading, skiing, fishing, and community dinners with his many friends. He and Shirley also moved to Longmont, Colorado 17 years ago to be closer to their daughter Linda and her family. Estes Park was their favorite spot and they enjoyed weekly trips. Don was predeceased by his wife Shirley, grandson Nicholas, son-in-law Robert, and sister Evelyn. He leaves his son David of San Carlos, Mexico and daughters Linda DeRonde of Longmont, Colorado and Nancy Greenberg of Londonderry, NH. He also leaves grandsons Adam Greenberg, Ethan and Andrew Curtis, and granddaughters Chelsea DeRonde-Johnson and husband Jayme Johnson, Kailynn DeRonde, and Rachel Greenberg. He also leaves his son-in-law Nathan Greenberg. A private service for family only was held in Estes Park. Visit ww.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
