Nancy E. Holmes Amato peacefully entered into rest at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh campus on Friday, April 24th, 2015. She was 81. Nancy was born on October 10, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of George and Florence Owens Holmes. Both parents predeceased their daughter. Nancy was married to Frank Amato for 58 years who survives her at home. Nancy was a 75 year area resident. Nancy was in banking for over 35 years and retired as a Bank Manager/ Assistant Vice-President for Fleet Bank. Survivors include her son, Mark W. Amato of Fishkill, NY; and daughter, Susan J. Amato of Newburgh, NY and her life partner, Tim Brown of Wappingers Falls, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Herbert Holmes. Nancy was a devoted wife for 58 years. Nancy was a loving caring mother to her children, Susan and Mark. Everyone who knew Nancy loved her. She was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital. She loved to take walks, go to the gym and practice yoga. Nancy loved all her dogs. She loved to travel and shop. Nancy lived life to the fullest. Always happy, never sad. Memorial Service for family and friends will be celebrated in the Mausoleum Chapel at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Rt 9W Newburgh on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10:30 am. Inurnment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Nancy's memory to the American Heart Association, P.O.
