Joseph John Antonelli, Sr. of Merritt Island, FL entered into rest Friday, April 3, 2015 at Cape Canaveral Hospital while surrounded by his family. Joseph, above all, was a family man. He and his late wife, Gloria raised their three children in New Windsor, NY before relocating to Florida in 1983. There, while still remaining close to his grandchildren in New York, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He was at his happiest when they were all around. Joseph proudly served in World War II in the Unites States Navy before resuming his position as President of Antonelli's Fuel Service in New Windsor, NY. He was a member of the New Windsor Lions Club, served as President, and eventually became District Governor. When he retired to Florida, he joined the Rockledge Lions Club and served there for many years. Joseph enjoyed the game of golf and while in New York was a member of the Osiris Country Club and then the Rockledge Country Club here in Florida. He and Gloria enjoyed years of traveling together; they explored the west, flew to Hawaii, and cruised the seas many times. In later years, Joe and Gloria, and then Joe alone, enjoyed seeing all his friends at the Christopher Columbus Social Club where he remained a member. Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Gloria Marie Antonelli. He is survived by his daughter, Helen M. Dwyer of Merritt Island, FL; two sons: Louis J. Antonelli(wife, Kathleen) of New Windsor, NY and Joseph J. Antonelli, Jr.(wife, Susan) of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; eight grandchildren: Charles Dwyer(wife, Sebrina) of Merritt Island, FL, Brian Dwyer(wife, Shannon) of Apopka, FL, Diane Blasens(husband, Todd) of Merritt Island, FL, Patrick Antonelli, Laura Antonelli, Katie Antonelli all from New Windsor, NY, Joseph Antonelli III and Nicholas Antonelli of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; nine great grandchildren: Rachel Dwyer, Michael Mucker, Brian Dwyer, Jenna Mucker, Chandler Dwyer, Zoe Dwyer, Peyton Dwyer, Kyla Antonelli, and Callie Blasens, all of Florida. There will be a private service in Florida for family and graveside services in New Windsor, NY.
