Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 <grammypgh@aol.com> on 21/May/2015 Message: Nicholas "Nick" Anthony Pucino, originally of Newburgh, NY and later a resident of Nanticoke, PA entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was 84. Nick was the oldest child of Anthony and Marguerite Pucino, born on July 9, 1930. He was an altar boy at St. Mary's Church in Newburgh and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1948. Nick proudly served as an electrician in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War veteran, traveling the world aboard the cruiser USS Roanoke. Following the war, Nick earned an associate degree from Orange County Community College and became a master electrician with the IBEW, with which he worked until retirement. Nick never wasted a moment of his life and had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed fishing and spent many happy hours on the lakes and rivers of the Northeast. Nick was a Freemason and a volunteer firefighter with the Winona Lake Firehouse, both in Newburgh, and an enthusiastic ham radio operator using the call sign KA3LVS. Later in life, Nick was a social member of the Hanover Fire Company #4, a member of the Historical Society, and the founder and past president of the Hanover Section Crime Watch, all in Nanticoke. Nick fought a battle with cancer for over ten years and credited his success to always maintaining positive attitude and moving forward through difficulties. Surviving Nick are four siblings, sisters: Rose Kiviniemi of NC and Angie McDermott of NY; and brothers: Richard of PA and Michael Pucino of NV. Nick's sister, Catherine predeceased him. Nick is also survived by four loving children: Gilbert Pucino (Candy) of Charleston, SC, Stephen Pucino (Sharon) of North Charleston, SC, Diane Graves (Ronald) of Lanson, SC, and Elizabeth Nolcox (John III) of Newburgh, NY. Nick was so happy to have eleven loving grandchildren: Anthony Rivera of Poughkeepsie, NY, John Nolcox IV of Trenton, NJ, Jade Quartarone of Newburgh, NY, Jennifer Smith, Michael Pucino, both of Charleston, SC, Stevie Nance, Tony Pucino, both of Hohenwald, TN, Charlene Engbrock of Belton, SC, Dennis Engbrock Jr. of Summerville, SC, Christopher Engbrock of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Timmy Brock Jr. of North Charleston, SC. Nick felt himself blessed to have fifteen great grandchildren with another on the way, and had many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nick befriended and entertained everyone he met and was a beloved character and inspiration to all who knew him. He is additionally survived by his senior prom date, Ida Clarkson of Dallas, TX and best buddy, Mack Keller of San Antonio, TX, both lifelong and beloved friends, and many more loyal friends he made along the way. Nick will always be missed and loved. A Memorial Mass celebrating Nicks's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9th at the Our Lady of the Lake Chapel, Route 52 and Lakeside Road, Newburgh, NY.
