Jean Louise Scarry - Class of 1979

Jean Louise Scarry, of Newburgh, retired Senior Secure Hospital Treatment Assistant for Mid Hudson Psychiatric Center, entered into rest on May 26, 2015 in Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh. She was 54. The daughter of Patricia Flynn Scarry and the late Timothy F. Scarry, she was born April 9, 1961 in Inwood, NYC. Although Jean was a very private person, her sense of humor and love of animals will be dearly missed. She was always one for the underdog, taking care of pets that no one else wanted. Most important was her devotion to her mother, Patricia. She is survived by her mother, Patricia; her siblings, Katherine Scarry McAneney and her husband John, Timothy F. Scarry and his wife Judy, Dennis Scarry and Christopher Scarry; her nieces and nephews, Kerri McAneney, who is also her goddaughter, Laura McAneney, Allison Leigh Scarry and Svetlana Leigh Scarry; her cousins, Barbara Healy Cook and her husband Al and their son Colin, Brian Healey, Michael McMahon, Patrick Scarry and his daughter Sydney Scarry, Theresa Scarry Sherman and her husband Fred and their children Fred III, Jacob and Cassie. In addition to her father Timothy, she was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Jean; her aunts Arlene Healy, Marilyn Scarry and Katherine McMahon; and her uncles Patrick Scarry, Mike McMahon and Norbert Healy. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, May 29 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 am on Saturday, May 30 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Town of Newburgh Animal Shelter, 645 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY 12550, where Jean was a volunteer.
