Arthur Hugh Gillespie - Class of June 1942

        Arthur Gillespie, 90 years old, passed away quietly on May 20 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Raleigh, NC, after a challenging year of medical conditions. His sons, David, Lee and Grandson Steve, were by his side for the last two days. Art was born to Edward Hugh and Emma Rebecca Gillespie in Walden, New York. Art was a proud member of US Army serving in Korean War. Art was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorthy Diegel Gillespie. Art was employed by IBM for 37 years and resident of Poughkeepsie, NY before retiring to Venice, FL. Survived by his sons: David Gillespie, Leon (Lee) Gillespie, George (Leonard) Diegel, Wayne Diegel; fifteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and special "pal", Judy Benton. Art loved polka music, fishing, golfing, playing cards and dancing. He especially loved wine, soup, ice cream, candy and popcorn! Art will be interred at Wallkill Valley Cemetery, in Walden, NY. Burial will be private, on June 27, 2015. Donations in his memory can be made to the charitable organization of your choice more info. to follow.
