Luciano “Lou” Anthony Bucci - Class of 1967

      Luciano “Lou” Anthony Bucci entered into rest on June 8, 2015 at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Boca Raton, Florida. He was 65 years old. Born on December 17, 1949 to Rebecca (Hapeman) and Nicholas Bucci. Lou attended Newburgh schools and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1967. He attended the University of Maryland and graduated in 1971. Lou was a Physical Education Teacher for the Newburgh Enlarged City School District for 34 years. Lou was a dedicated coach many sports, including football, basketball and softball. His greatest coaching joy was coaching his sons in summer wrestling. Lou is survived by his wife Agatha, his son Michael and his wife Colleen, son Robert and his wife Karen, son Christopher and his wife Jessica, daughter Jennifer and her husband Robert and daughter Stephanie and her husband Craig. His pride and joy were his 12 grandchildren; Brian, Matthew, Jessica, James, Madeline, Jackson, Katie, Hudson, Roniah, Ryan, Tommy and Sofia. Survivors also include his mother and father–in- law Frances and Thomas Carfora. Lou was predeceased by his parents. Lou was fortunate to have had many wonderful friends who, through their kindness, enriched his life during his illness; Carol Maida, Joe Reardon, Jim Liney, Gary and Jan Kessler, Nancy and Dan Pickering and Maryann and Douglas Johnston. Special thanks to Drs. Dodson, Williams, Khoraity, and Brenner of the Lynn Cancer Institute as well as nurse Kelly Grunberg and Physician Assistant Tiffany Searle. Lou will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, fighting spirit and dedication to his family. To honor Lou’s wishes there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice.
