Submitted by Pauline Rute Halll 1952 <Grammypgh@aol.com> on 11/Jul/2015 Message: Frances ‘Fran’ Kakina Favino Lease of Newburgh, entered into rest on Thursday, July 9, 2015. She was 80. Born the 31st of January, 1935 to Patrick and Marjorie Favino, she was a life long resident of Newburgh and more recently of Naples, Florida. As a young woman she attended Syracuse University and then worked for the New York Telephone Company. In 1956 she married John J. Lease Jr., ‘Jack’, and had 60 years of marriage, living in the City of Newburgh and then in the Town. Fran raised three children and enjoyed their successes over the years. She never was one to sit still and did volunteer work wherever she thought it was needed. One day while visiting Calvary Cemetery she noticed the need for weed pulling. She ended up volunteering at the Cemetery once a week for the past 10 years and helped reorganize the office. Fran was an avid reader, consuming several books a week. She was also able to complete the New York Times Sunday Crossword, in ink, in 45 minutes. In 2012, Fran had a brain aneurism. She recovered several months later but lost some of her capacity. She gave up riding her bicycle but never gave up her daily long walks and continued her volunteer work at the cemetery. Fran lived several more happy years not letting any limitations stop her, as was her way throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, Jack, and their children: Jeffrey (wife Justine, children Matthew, Alexandra, and Jack); Dr. Karen Driscoll(husband Tom, children Tom, Denise, Andrew, and Victoria); and John (wife Mariko, children John-Anthony, Paul-Henry, and Tekla.) Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, July 13th at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 14 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Replies to this post No replies yet |
