Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 <Grammypgh@aol.com> on 30/Jul/2015 Message: Alfonso A. Crisci, of Newburgh, NY, a lifetime area resident, entered into rest on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at home. He was 91. Son of the late Angelo and Nancy (Valdina) Crisci, he was born November 20, 1923 in Newburgh. He married Elizabeth (Carbone) Crisci on August 11, 1946 in Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh. Elizabeth survives at home. Al was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. during WWII, stationed in Tarawa and Saipan. While serving he received several medals and commendations, including the Purple Heart. Al was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, served as past president and charter member of the Good Will Fire Dept. and the Benevolent Association, was a member of the Orange County Volunteer Fireman's Association, an inductee to the Poughkeepsie Fast Pitch Hall of Fame, Newburgh Fast Pitch Hall of Fame, New York State Fast Pitch Hall of Fame, and Mid-Hudson Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Al could fix or build anything. He loved baseball, working in his yard, spending time at the firehouse, and family time. His sharp sense of humor always kept us laughing. He taught us strong family bonds and was adored by his entire family. Our hearts are broken and our lives will never be the same. In addition to his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth, he is survived by his two daughters, Elaine Altstadt and her husband Manfred of Monroe, and Angela Galli and her husband Frank of Newburgh; his siblings, Joe Crisci and wife Johanna of Newburgh, George Crisci and wife Ramona of Newburgh, Angelo Crisci and wife Carol of Gardiner, Jenny Fayo, and Nancy Pacella and companion Bob Ruston; his grandchildren, Amanda Collins and husband Christopher, Jaime Livoti Mennerich, Elizabeth Westervelt and husband Ryan, Francesca Crossley and husband Ryan, Christina Prego and husband Andrew, and Alisha Galli; great-grandchildren, Brianna Livoti, Violet Collins, Ryan Westervelt Jr., and Andrew Prego; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Crisci, and his sister, Martha Rockwell. Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm on Sunday, August 2 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, August 3 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Good Will Fire Dept., 1 S. Plank Rd., Newburgh, NY 12550. Replies to this post No replies yet |
