  Janice Catania Cornfield, a lifelong resident of the Town of Newburgh, passed away at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. She was 68. The daughter of the late Anthony (Tony) and Edythe (Garzione) Catania, she was born August 13, 1946 in Newburgh. Janice was a registered nurse and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Mental Health Nursing. To my amazing mother, my heart is broken but I know that you will always be with me wherever I am. You taught me strength and wisdom and I am who I am because of you. Your loving daughter, Stacia. Jan, you will always be in my heart, with much love, Barb. Janice is survived by her loving companion of many years, Vincent Spinola; her loving children, Stacia Vourakis (Vincent) French of Montgomery and Anthony Vourakis of Kingston; her sister, Barbara (Stephen) Banyacski of Marlboro; with special memories from your nieces, Judy (James) Burns of Hyde Park, Nancy (James) DiLeo of Mongaup Valley, Susan (Christopher) O'Keefe of Croton-on-Hudson, Lisa (Robert) Betanzos of Wallkill; great nieces and nephews, who will forever miss your sense of humor, Hayley, Desiree, Schuyler and Rhett Burns; Jamie Dileo; Hudson, Dillon and Colgan O'Keefe; and Robert, Tessa and Travis Betanzos; aunt, Violet Hughes; aunt, Gloria Sloboda; uncle, Joseph (Dot) Catania; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Christopher R. Vourakis. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 16 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 17 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with entombment following in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Smile Train, PO Box 96231, Washington, DC 20090-6231
