Hoaglander Johnson, a lifelong local area resident, died at home in Beacon on
Wednesday, August 19, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 72.
Born in Newburgh on January 28, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Robert
and Madeline (Garrison) Hoaglander. On July 18, 1970, she married Edward Johnson
at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill. Carol was a longtime employee of
I.B.M. and served at the company's East Fishkill location for 47 years. Even
during her illness, Carol remained steadfast and committed to her career,
retiring just this past March. She was also a longtime member of Our Savior
Lutheran Church in Fishkill. Above all else, she was a dedicated wife, mother,
and grandmother. Edward survives at home in Beacon. She is also survived by her
son, Edward E. Johnson & his wife Kristana of Rockville, MD; her son, Jeffrey A.
Johnson of Beacon; her daughter, Jennifer A. Franks of Arlington, VA; five
grandchildren, Svea, Nikolaus, Annika, Nilsa, and Elina; her brother, Rev.
Robert Hoaglander of Herkimer, NY; her sister, Linda Ward & her husband Jim of
Ilion, NY; and her brother, Rev. Don Hoaglander & his wife Debbie of Ilion, NY;
also many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends. She was
predeceased by her parents as well as three siblings, Astrid Anderson, Carl
Hoaglander, and Arnold Hoaglander. In accordance with Carol's wishes, funeral
services are private. Interment will be at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Memorial
donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1400 Route 52, Fishkill, NY
12524 or Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY
