Message:

Patrick R. "Pat" Gross, of the Town of Newburgh, NY, Groundskeeper for Epiphany Seminary, Mason at West Point , and Driver for Mid State Bus Company, entered into rest on Saturday, August 29, 2015. He was 84 years old. The son of the late John “Mushy” Gross and Marion (Haskin) Lachmann, he was born August 21, 1931 in Newburgh. He married his beloved wife Maria (Beccaccio) Gross on July 4, 1954 in Sacred Heart Church. Maria survives at home. Pat was a devoted loving husband for 61 years who cherished his family and was a wonderful Poppy to his grandchildren and his beloved great-granddaughter. He loved to hit the slots in Monticello and was always dreaming of hitting the big one! He enjoyed fishing at Chadwick Lake, and most importantly, Poppy never missed a game that his grandchildren played, from basketball to soccer and the baseball/softball field. He was always there cheering them on. And those damn Yankees! He would get so frustrated. We will miss your laughing, your jokes and being with us at holidays and in Maine. May you rest in heaven Daddy. Pat attended Newburgh schools, and proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, where he was a 2 time recipient of Presidential Unit Citation with ribbon bar and Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United States Service Medal, and 2 time Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He was a Life Member of the Good Will Fire Department and a member of Sacred Heart Church In addition to his wife Maria, he is survived by his two daughters, Tricia Ingram and her husband Tim and Stephanie Driscoll and her husband Rich; grandchildren, Philip Consorti, Kyle Ingram and girlfriend Danielle Sullivan, Travis Ingram and fiancé Lindsey Lattimore, Jaclynn Consorti and boyfriend Tyrell George, and Rebecca Consorti; and great granddaughter Peyton Ingram. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronny Gross. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday, September 1 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, September 2 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Pat's honor may be sent to Good Will Fire Dept., 1 S. Plank Rd., Newburgh, NY 12550.
