Oberg, Sr. 76 born in Newburgh NY on August 19, 1916 died on Sunday May 2, 1993 at home in Lancashire, Delaware. Mr. Oberg graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1935. He was a design engineer for Ronson Corp. of Delaware from 1961 to 1971. Later he was a design engineer for Lasko Metal Products in West Chester PA, until he retired in 1989. He was a member of Atonement United Methodist Church, in Claymont, where he served on the administrative board and trustees, United Methodist Men and worked with the Boy Scouts. He was founder of Society of Manfacturing Engineers, Chapter 210 in Wilmington and was a member of the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation. He enjoyed woodworking, woodcarving and photography. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Ethel Smith Oberg, a son Gustave A., Jr. of Brookhaven, PA, four daughters Christine E. Roth of Denver Colorado, Karen E Sadvari of Chester PA, Diane C. Oberg of Greenbelt, Md. and Linda A. Oberg of Wilmington; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Atonement United Methodist Church, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont. Burial will be private. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Atonement United Methodist Church memorial or building funds. Claymont or Delaware Hospice, Wilmington. Replies to this post No replies yet |
