Edward T. Grant of New Windsor, New York died on September 26, 2015. Born in Newburgh on March 1, 1930, Ed lived his entire life in the Newburgh area. The son of Jenny (Coffey) and Peter Grant, Ed graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and enlisted in the US Navy where he served his country as an Aerographer's Mate Third Class. When he returned home from military service, he worked two jobs, built a new home in New Windsor, married the love of his life, Mary (Urban), and together they raised their two children, son, Edward, and daughter, Mary Ann. Ed worked as a Commercial Representative for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Company for nearly 39 years before retiring in 1990. First and foremost, Ed was a loving husband and dedicated father. He was an avid reader who stayed on top of current events and loved nature and animals. He enjoyed fishing, bicycling, long walks, long talks, and, in his earlier years, running marathons. Ed possessed immense generosity and a genuine interest in people and the world around him. He found awe and beauty in the smallest and most simple things of life. Those closest to Ed remember his great sense of humor, and infectious laughter. He is predeceased by his parents and precious daughter, Mary Ann. Ed leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Mary, and son, Edward, of Lovingston, VA. He also leaves grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Tina Urban and June Urban, and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, the 3rd of October at Quigley's Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, New York. Following will be a private inurnment and military ceremony at Mount St. Francis Cemetery in New Windsor where Ed will be laid to rest with his beloved daughter, Mary Ann. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Flannery Animal Hospital in New Windsor, the ASPCA, the American Legion, or any charity of choice. Arrangements are by Richard J. Sullivan and Kevin Quigley of Quigley Bros. Funeral Home; to send condolences or to get directions to the funeral home, please go to www.Quigleybros.com
