Harold D. Green, of New Windsor, died peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2015, following a short illness. His loving family was by his side; he was 80 years old. Born June 18, 1935 in Newburgh, NY, he moved to New Windsor in 1960 and made it his home. He was the son of Harold C. Green and Dorothy A. Green, and the husband of Thelma Karole Green, to whom he was married for 55 years. Harold was very actively involved in the drum corps activity in the Hudson Valley throughout his life, having joined the Continental Fife & Drum Corps in 1948, a corps he later taught and Directed. During his drumming career he won many drumming championships, and was involved in many other corps including the Civil War Troopers, which he was a member for the past 30 years. Harold graduated from NFA in 1955, and enlisted as a drummer in the United States Military Academy Band at West Point where he served in the famed HellCats Field Music for more than 26 years, until his retirement in 1982. He was an avid train collector, and was actively involved in the Train Collector's Association, and The O&W Railway Historical Society. Harold was predeceased by his loving wife Thelma Karole Green. He is survived by his son Ken in Louisiana and a sister JoBeth Thomas. A memorial service is expected to be held around Thanksgiving 2015.
