Janet Marie Heroy Baranski, of Newburgh, a lifetime area resident, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. She was 77. Daughter of the late James and Catherine (Gilmore) Heroy, she was born March 5, 1938 in Newburgh. She was married to the late Stefan Baranski on July 1, 1961. Janet lived a wonderful life with her husband and her only child Gina. She always had a very positive outlook throughout her life and brought much happiness to her family and friends and will be missed immensely. She enjoyed dining out (buffet dinners at upscale restaurants were her all time favorite) , clothes shopping, dinner dances with her husband, Stefan, at Bear Mountain and local establishments and taking many overnight trips to Atlantic City with her husband especially during their retirement years. She was a huge fan of Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli. She was a member of Town of Newburgh Seniors and St. Francis of Assisi Church. She passed away from non-small cell lung cancer in which she was diagnosed in early May 2015. The family would like to thank all the medical staff involved with her treatments as well as the staff of Elant Fishkill. Everyone was very compassionate and gave her the best quality care. Janet is survived by her daughter, Gina Wiseman and husband James of Newburgh, sister Justine Kobelt of Wallkill; several nieces and nephews in Newburgh, Wallkill, and out of state; and her beloved granddog, Lexi. In addition to her husband Stefan, she was predeceased by four brothers and two nephews Visitation will be held from 10 am - 11 am on Monday, October 19 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, with a service following at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
