Catherine was born on July 3, 1934 in New Windsor, NY. She was the daughter of Julius and Martha (Maloney) Hoffman. She recently celebrated 62 years of blissful marriage to her adoring husband, Gilbert Lester.  Upon graduation of high school, Catherine continued her education by attending The Spencerian Business School. After many years as a bookkeeper for New Windsor Royal Foods, Catherine embarked on a new career as the proprietor of Paladine Florist in Newburgh.  In addition to her husband, Gilbert Lester, Catherine is survived by her children: daughter, Michele Weddell and her husband Thomas of Rock Tavern, and her son, Gil Lester and his wife Debbie of Rock Tavern; her beloved grandchildren, TJ Weddell (Mary), Erin Blabac (Pete), Michael Weddell (Danielle), Ivy Lester and Bryce Lester; her much loved great-grandchildren, Brody DeGroodt, Natalie Weddell and Nicole Weddell. She is also survived by her best friends and sisters: Elizabeth Milich of Texas, and Joan Polkowski (her dear brother-in-law Ed Polkowski) of Washingtonville; as well as many endearing nieces and nephews.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to all staff members of Elant, but especially the 2nd floor Nurses and therapists whose dedication and compassion made this journey bearable.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm on Thursday, October 29 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 30 at the funeral home, with entombment following in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
