Christine B. Schilling Ostner, beloved wife to Richard A. Ostner of New Windsor, NY, a long time area resident, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 26, 2015. She was 84. Christine was with her loving husband of 62 years at home when she entered God’s care. Born July 1, 1931 in Jamaica, NY, she was the only daughter of Bernhart & Christine Schilling of New Windsor. Christine married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Richard A. Ostner who were truly the best of friends. They were blessed with three children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. She held deep Christian faith and felt each passing day was indeed a blessing. While raising her family she ran Newburgh Oil Co as the first female CEO of an oil distributorship in the Hudson Valley and Gus’ Tavern with her husband. They were fortunate enough to travel the world in their retired years. Christine loved to bake, golf, enjoy nature and spend time with family and friends. Left to cherish her love and memory are her husband, Richard A. Ostner, their children, Richard G. Ostner & wife Linda, Robin Taliaferro & husband Sylvester (Pete), Christine Courtsunis & husband John, Heidi Imbriglio and husband Armand, grandchildren Lauren S. Ostner, Richard (Ricky) Ostner, Peter Taliaferro, Ian Taliaferro & wife Mary Kate, Delaney Taliaferro, George Courtsunis, & Gus Courtsunis, Her community commitment included membership on the board of the Greater Newburgh Chamber Symphony, Past President of Christ Lutheran Church Council, Past President of New Windsor Elementary school’s P.T.O. and founder, charter member of the Hudson Valley Oil Council and former board member of the Newburgh Y.W.C.A. (on Grand Street). Christine gave of herself canvassing her local neighborhoods for the “March of Dimes” for many years. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Thursday, October 29 at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, 239 Quassaick Ave. (Rt. 94), New Windsor. A service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 30 at Christ Lutheran Church, 186 Fullerton Ave., Newburgh. She loved flowers and they are most welcomed. Other worthy recipients of recognition are Christ Lutheran Church, 186 Fullerton Ave., PO Box 2246, Newburgh, NY 12550; and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.
