Daughter of the late Louis and Esther Cohen Ushman, she was born August 4, 1921 in Newburgh, NY. Selma was a member of Temple Beth Jacob of Newburgh and a member of the Hadassah. A hobby of collecting antiques with her friends turned into a business she loved at the Corner Shop Antiques in Highland Falls, NY. Selma was the widow of Harold Hoffman, who was one of the founders of Hoffman Hardware in Highland Falls, NY. Survivors include her son, Paul Hoffman and his wife, Carolyn "Lyny" of Timonium, MD; her daughters: Carol Bowman and her husband, Steven of Media, PA, Barbara Zohar of Cornwall, NY; and her four grandchildren: Sarah, Chase, Ezra, and Ben. A Graveside Service, officiated by Rabbi Larry Freedman, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 2nd at Big Rock Cemetery, Newburgh, NY.
