Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 <GrammyPGH@aol.com> on 11/Nov/2015 Robert J. “Bob” Darrigan, a retired truck driver for APA Transport and lifelong resident of Newburgh, entered into rest on November 9, 2015 at Elant at Newburgh. He was 78 years old. The son of the late William J. Darrigan Sr. and Emma F. (Weeks) Darrigan, he was born March 8, 1937 in Newburgh, NY. He married Marie (Ochietti) Darrigan on September 2, 1956 at Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, NY. Marie survives at home. Robert graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1955. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in Newburgh, a member of the Continental Fife and Drum Corps, member of 170th FABN from 1954-68, a member of PBN 156th artillery, retiring with rank of 1st SGT from Charlie Battery from 1968-84. Robert was also a charter member of the 156th Veterans Regiment NYS Army National Guard, and former Town of Newburgh Republican Committeeman. Robert received the outstanding achievement award from the Army National Guard. He received a 25 year Safe Drivers Award, as a truck driver from APA Transport. In addition to his loving wife, Marie, he is survived by his son, Robert J Darrigan Jr. and wife Diana of East Meadow, NY; grandson Tyler Darrigan; and dear nieces and nephews, especially Kathy, Julie of Newburgh and Ron of Florida, and Cheryl and Nancy of California. Robert is predeceased by his siblings William Darrigan, Dorothy Darrigan-Haythorn Lemmon, Vincent Darrigan and Richard Darrigan. Entombment with military honors will take place at 11 am on Saturday, November 14 at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh, NY. Replies to this post
