Dorothy M. Griffin Johnson of Newburgh, a homemaker and lifetime resident of the area, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, in Good Samaritan Hospital, West Islip. She was 85. The daughter of William and Annabelle VanValkenburgh Griffin, she was born Oct. 27, 1914, in Newburgh. She was the widow of Percy C. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was a member, former organist, choir director, Sunday School teacher and the first woman Deacon in Moulton Memorial Baptist Church, Newburgh. Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Turner of Brentwood; two sons, Richard Johnson of Newburgh and Jerry Johnson of Rochester; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the funeral home. The Rev. Jack Hyatt will officiate. Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Moulton Memorial Baptist Church, P.O.
