Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 <Grammypgh@aol.com> on 21/Dec/2015 Message: Ethelyn Lupton Sylcox of Newburgh, N.Y. entered into rest Sunday, July 20, 2003 in Newburgh. She was 88. The daughter of the late William and Minnie Merrit Lupton, she was born October 4, 1914 in Newburgh. She was married to the late William C. Sylcox, who predeceased her in 2001. Mrs. Sylcox was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a former member of the Eastern Star, and one of the original members of the Nearly New Shop, where she remained active until this year. Survivors include her daughter, Ruth E. Volkringer and her husband, Frank, of the Town of Newburgh; two grandchildren, Karen DeCrosta and her husband, Peter, of Marlboro, and David Volkringer and his wife, Carol, of Virginia Beach, Va; one great-grandson, Jared DeCrosta; and one nephew, Edward Sylcox, Jr. and his wife, Jeannine, and their children. She was predeceased by a brother, William L. Lupton. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23 at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 24 at the funeral home, with Pastor Lori Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
